You should back up the data on your computer regularly. If you use Outlook to manage your email, you also need to keep the information in it is backed up. Otherwise, you risk losing your emails, contacts, tasks, and more.
Windows 10 built-in backup utility called File History. The article will show you how to use File History to create a copy of Outlook files, also referred to some mistakes you should avoid.
Although there are third-party programs with much more feature rich, File History is available for Windows 10 integrated and will allow you to backup your files to another drive. Then you can restore them if the original file is removed somehow.
To start, press the Windows key + I to open Settings. Navigate to the Update & Security> Backup.

You’ll see the option to add a drive. Click here to select the drive you want to back up your files.

If you can, you will find that you have the ability to choose the other drives in the system. However, the use of an external drive would be more appropriate. This is because if something happens to your computer, there are many opportunities of the external drive is not affected. It also will make the transfer of data between systems easier.
If you do not see the option to add drives, which means that a drive has been selected. Click More options to find the drive, on the starting line by Total space on. If that is not the drive you want, scroll down and click Stop using the drive. Navigate back to the previous page and follow the instructions above.

When you select the drive, File History will be turned on automatically. If not, just move the Automatically back up my files to the On state.
Set the frequency of backups
When the drive has been selected, you need to decide the frequency of the File History.
Back up my files menu is set to Every hour by default. However, you can change this into another time period or daily, depending on how you want to update your backup copies.

Menu Keep my determination interval backups until your backup copies deleted from the drive. They are set to keep forever (Forever) by default, but you can change this to the time period in months or years different. In addition, the option Until space just to delete files when the disk is full.
Select the folder to backup
Next, it’s time to choose what you want to be backed up. If you are on the Backup page, click More.
There is a section on this page called Back Up These folders. By default, a folder is included in your user account, like Downloads, Documents, Pictures, and other folders.

File your Outlook is stored in C: \ Users \ NAME \ Documents \ Outlook Files, so they will automatically be included.
Click Add a folder. Then, you can browse to the Documents folder and then select Choose Outlook in this folder.
To remove a folder from the list, just select that folder and click Remove.

You can also exclude folders from the backup. This is useful when you want to back up a folder including multiple folders, and some folders you want to exclude.
Scroll to the Exclude These folders and click Add a folder. Browse to the folder you want to exclude, then click Choose this folder.
File History and Outlook
Before using File History to back up Outlook files, there are several things to note.
File History will only backup files are not used while it runs. That means if you open Outlook, your files will not be backed up.

Thus, the best way to ensure that files your Outlook to be backed up are to close the program in the File History is running or set frequency often enough to capture everything (see Set frequency backup power above).
The Outlook files with sizes up to gigabytes are also quite popular.
File History does not manage its backup, especially intelligent manner. Although some utilities will back step by step, just update the file has changed since the last scan and delete old files, but do not do that File History.
File History does not automatically backup
Instead, File History will notice that the data has changed and back up the entire file again. If your Outlook file is too large, you will soon run out of space on the drive. To fix this, install the File Hist
